This island group starts 30 miles north of the Nassau and extends to the Northeast Providence Channel, a primary world shipping lane connecting the Atlantic to the Gulf Stream off the coast of Florida. Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines has its private island, Coco Cay, on Little Stirrup Cay at the north end of the Berrys. The famous fishing resort/marina of Chub Cay lies at the southwest end of the chain.
The Berry Island group consists of about 30 cays, pronounced “keys” in the Bahamas. Many are uninhabited and the waters are well known for excellent diving and sport fishing. There are interesting histories surrounding some of the cays like Whale Cay and Little Whale Cay in the south and Great Harbour Cay in the north, where a full service marina is in operation year round.
